GST Registration Online in India
An Overview- Online Goods and Service Tax (GST) Registration
Types of GST Registration in India
There are mainly nine types of GST Registrations:
Threshold Limit for Mandatory GST Registration in India
A company that has an annual revenue of more than Rs 20 lakhs (in case of Service)/ Rs. 40 Lakhs (In case of Goods) is required to register under the Goods and Services Tax. For North Eastern and hilly states designated as special category states, the maximum is set at Rs 10 lakhs.
GST registration is based on a PAN number and is state-specific. Suppliers must register in each state or union territory where they conduct business.
The supplier is assigned a 15-digit GST identification number known as a "GSTIN" upon GST registration, and a certificate of registration incorporating this GSTIN is made available to the applicant on the GSTN common site.
The GSTIN's first two digits are the state code, the next ten digits are the legal entity's PAN, the next two digits are the entity code, and the last digit is the check sum number. GST registration is not tax specific, which implies that one registration is used for all taxes, including CGST, SGST/UTGST, IGST, and cesses.
