The Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority or APEDA registration was set up in 1985 to support and promote the export of designated agricultural products. It provides funding, industry information, and regulatory guidance to help develop and promote scheduled products. Under the APEDA Act, certain products are classified as scheduled products, and their exporters must be registered with APEDA. Objective of APEDA

The core objective of APEDA is to promote the export of scheduled products. APEDA operates under the central government’s guidance, undertaking various regulatory and developmental activities. To ensure the smooth administration of the APEDA Act, the central government establishes regulations and enforces them through this authority.

Functions of APEDA Authorities

The functions of authorities are listed below:

  • Encouraging the growth and export of scheduled products through targeted production initiatives.
  • Setting clear guidelines and specifications for the production of scheduled products.

  • Promoting the growth of industries associated with scheduled products via research and surveys.
  • Obtaining statistical information from factories and sharing it through official publications.

Registration Process

  • To register under APEDA, applicants must submit their application form within one month of starting their business operations.
  • If an exporter of scheduled products misses the registration deadline for a valid reason, the Authority has the discretion to extend the time limit.
  • After the applicant submits the completed application and makes the payment, the Authority will grant the Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC).

This is a one-time registration, and all registered members must comply with the rules and regulations outlined in the APEDA Act.
